Nicole Hunziker-Basler is a highly skilled and passionate photographer specializing in capturing the stunning beauty of nature and landscapes. Originally from Switzerland, she moved to Summerland, BC after finishing her MSc in Biology. Her love for photography began at an early age while on frequent trips across Europe with her family and has only grown stronger over time.
Nicole is primarily self-taught and has honed her skills through years of capturing the natural world around her, but also has taken workshops with professional photographers. With the support of her husband, Nicole is now transitioning from a hobbyist photographer to running her own professional photography business.
Her artwork has been shown multiple times at the Peachland Art Gallery in "Artists of the Okanagan" and "Captured Images". She has also exhibited her photography at the Lake Country Artwalk twice, and just recently, Nicole was awarded 3 silver and 2 bronze medals for her landscape photography in the prestigious International Imaging Competition (IIC) by Master Photographers International (MPI).

Artist Statement
In my photography, I like to capture the natural world, whether it is grand landscapes or more intimate scenes. I grew up with a love for nature and am thankful to be surrounded by it in the Okanagan.
I especially like to use different kinds of filters and stack them on top of each other, and play around with long exposures. The combination of filters and long exposures allows me to create a more painterly effect im my images. Another technique I like to use is called Intentional Camera Movement, ICM, where I literally move my camera while taking the shot. The results are often unusual and leave the viewer wondering.
My inspiration is everywhere in nature. When I go for a walk, a drive, a holiday, or I am just outside in my backyard, something catches my eyes and I make myself a mental note to come back here. Sometimes the most mundane scene can be transformed into something extraordinary. I hope that through my lens, the viewer gets a glimpse of how I see the natural world.
All my images are printed on a high-end German canvas that is of archival quality. I am shooting in RAW format so each file can be blown up without losing any details.
