Our Story

We're part of Summerland's rich arts and culture history.

Summerland’s history of the visual arts dates from the early 1950s with the founding of the Summerland Art Club . In the 1968, the Summerland Community Arts Council (SCAC) was established. Our original home was the old bank building on Main Street where the Okanagan Regional Library is now located.

We support creative adventures.

The Summerland Community Arts Council is the umbrella organization for the arts in Summerland. We have member artists and arts groups and our goal is to be a resource centre, information hub, and advocate for the arts in Summerland. By working together, we can create an even more vibrant and inclusive arts and cultural community. We also want to engage the whole community in the arts, whether as participants or audience.

We're back on Wharton Street!

The Summerland Community Arts Council is proud to be located in the newly renovated George Ryga Arts and Culture Centre at 9525 Wharton Street in Summerland. We would like to thank the Province of British Columbia and the District of Summerland for their support in renovating the building.
