Designed and created by Okanagan artist Nancy Dearborn, this piece is fused glass on reclaimed live-edge wood.
Poet Laureate Alfred Austin wrote, "The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul."
Nancy's father has always been a hard-working man. He spent many long years of physical labour providing for his family. But in the garden.....ahhhhh the garden. Daddy tended to the dozens of trees, flower beds, and vegetable patch that formed our little corner of heaven. His strained muscles and moist brow, glistening under the summer sun, were evidence of a man hard at work. However, his tilling of the soil was always accompanied by the chirping of Daddy's whistle while he worked. The garden was a labour of love that fed her father's soul and brought joy to all.
Daddy transformed his little corner of the world into a beautiful, peaceful garden where flowers dance to the sound of the rhythmic breeze, bees buzzing, birds singing, and her father's chirping whistle that form a symphony of sweet music.
