British Columbia's Boundary country stretches from Osoyoos east to the Kootenays. From the last decades of the 1899s to the early 1900s, it was the site of frantic development as gold, copper, silver and other mineral deposits were discovered and as railways were built.
By the 1920s, however, much of the boom was over and the area's towns had shrunk or disappeared altogether. Determined not to let their stories disappear as well, Garnet Basque interviewed old-timers and scoured newspaper archives to bring the Boundary country back to life. Lavishly illustrated with colour photos and paintings, archival black and white prints, maps and townsite plans, this book is a fascinating social and business history of a forgotten part of British Columbia.
