The Permanent Collection is an important part of Summerland Community Art Council’s mandate. Its primary purpose is to identify, collect and display works of art which are of artistic and historical value.
During the past years we have received a number of valuable donations of work by former Summerland artists. We also purchased a print by Kootenay artist Frantisek Strouhal who had a show in the gallery in the Spring 2012. He was featured on KSPS Spokane public TV in the feature Northwest Profiles: Art Embracing Awareness (Oil Printing) January 29th, 2016. (https://youtu.be/N7zEFwqznz0)
Our latest addition was a charcoal picture by Alistair Bell, found by the Art Club this year presented by BC Cultural Advisory Board to the Summerland Art Club Council being one of the first 8 arts councils in BC. (1970)
The show, Permanent Collection – Out of the Vault, is an opportunity to thank those who donated works of art to the Permanent Collection. It is also an opportunity to honour individual artists who have enriched our lives immeasurably.
